Keane Ceramics Open Day- Sat June 15th 2013

April 16, 2013

The 2012 Keane Open Day was fantastic. I am very excited to announce that it’s happening again on Saturday June 15th 2013 from 10am to 2pm.

This year we have five demonstrators.

Merran Esson.

Merran will be demonstrating many of the techniques she utilizes to create her wonderful handbuilt pieces. Merran has a unique way with clay with such a unique feel for design and surface. Merran has been tempted away from her full time position as the Head of Ceramics at the National Art School HERE to share her knowledge.

Cameron Williams.

Yes! By popular demand Cameron will be back and hypnotizing onlookers with his mastery of the wheel. Watching Cameron cajole copious amounts of clay into something the scale most of us can only dream of  is always a  treat. Cameron has his hands full satisfying the constant stream of orders for his large pots. Cameron also makes Tandoori  and Pizza ovens from his workshop on the South Coast of NSW.

Malcolm Greenwood

Malcolm is a man of many talents. Malcolm has been creating hand made production ware utilizing a range of techniques for restaurants in Australia for over 20 years. When he can find the time to sneak away from his orders he works toward “one off” exhibition work. Malcolm will be combining his production techniques with a talk on marketing ones work. Malcolm also has an annual studio sale. Take the opportunity to get on his mailing list. Bruce McWhinney

Head of Northern Beaches Ceramics. teacher of Handbuilding, Throwing, Design, Drawing, Mould making, Tour guide to Japan and Bali.

Bruce has such versatility. The focus of his demonstration for the open day is still to be confirmed.Visit his website HERE

Sue Buckle

Sue has such depth of experience in the field of ceramics, I am always so impressed by the intuitive way she handles clay. A past editor of  AUSTRALIAN Ceramics.

Sue also runs travel tours. I have witnessed the cultural influences of her travels appear in her work. Sues next trip is to MOROCCO  late 2013.

Sue has a passion for introducing children to clay and will be creating the Dragon of all clay Dragons. Six bags of clay, buckets of underglaze and children can participate. Parents stand clear! Kara Pryor will be supporting Sue and I feel sure Kara will be imposing her passion for purple where appropriate.
