Celebration “30 Years On”Opens at Northern Beaches Ceramics

February 28, 2016

celebration 2

Northern Beaches Ceramics has a long history. Thousands of students have passed through this ceramic specific facility over the past 40+ years since it opened. Many more have commenced study after the complete refurbishment of the section 10 years ago. Affectionately known to many former students as Brookie TAFE each student would also remember the support and guidance that they received from past Head teachers Dianne McLean and Bruce McWhinney. Others may have thrived on the input that they received from part time staff such as John Edye, Janna Ferris, Ivan Gluck, Walter Auer and Sam Perks to name just a handful.

Sue Buckle Throwing-Back when Venco wheels came in Brown and one kept only the best pots and recycled the rest.

Celebration is an exhibition by 5  former students of ‘Brookie’. It’s a celebration of shared learning and shared experiences. Not to mention some fantastic hair, shoulder pads and possibly flares. It’s also an exhibition of current work by 5 students with 30 years experience and thousands of pots behind them and they are all still exploring their ideas with clay.

Please Join Sue, Nicky, Daja, Claire and Krysia to celebrate on the opening night Wednesday 9/3/16 at 6pm

To be opened By Dianne McLean.
